Son of Lt. Col. H. P. C. Dillon, Royal Engineers and Blanche Dillon.
A pre-war officer with 14 years’ experience he was in France from August 1914 and fought at Langemark at Ypres on 23 October 1914. His battalion lost twenty of their officers in the action. He was awarded the DSO in the June 1915 Birthday Honours List. He commanded the 6th Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry for a period before he was invalided home. He took command of the Corps Reinforcement Depot from July 1917.
He died at the Queen Alexandra Military Hospital in London
